Who you say I am. ❤️

We live in a society now that feels entitled to opinions. More importantly, a society that feels like voicing their opinions trumps everything. It doesn’t matter where the opinion came from, who’s feelings it hurts to voice it, or the consequences that might come with it. Social media has been a huge piece of how we have become this way. It’s so easy to sit behind a keyboard and say things that you would never dare say in person.

Opinion: a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

The definition of an opinion makes an interesting point. Why are so many people determined to have a right to make judgements formed out of their own ignorance rather than fact or knowledge? While you certainly have a right to have an opinion, please remember that this right doesn’t come with any protection to keep you from looking like an ignorant jerk. Unfortunately this trend of opinion sharing probably isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Who I really want to speak to here are the sweet souls affected by it.

We’ve all been there at some point. Broken by the words of others. Questioning our worth because of these hurtful words. They may have come from a significant other, a family member, a friend, a coworker, or even a complete stranger.

One of the most powerful things you can do for yourself is to know your worth. Don’t destroy yourself by basing your worth on the opinions of others. Live in such a way that you are confident of who you are. Confident that you are doing your best, that your intentions are good, that you are loved, and that you are so worthy. The only way to achieve this level of confidence is through a relationship with God.

He can bring you peace in the hardest of times. He can give you strength in times that it seems impossible to keep going. He loves you so very much even when you feel unloveable. Those hateful things people are saying about you out of spite, he doesn’t believe them for a second. That mistake you made that people are gossiping about, he’s loving you even harder to pick you back up from it. He’s capable of amazing things when you allow him to work in you. This is one of my favorite songs to listen to when someone is trying to judge me or feels like telling me who they think I am.

I have been in a place that I am confident God was the only way I made it through. I have people constantly say to me “I have no idea how you do it.” Or “I have no idea how you’re still going.” There’s no other way to explain making it through. There’s no other place the strength could have come from.

Sweet friend, rest easy knowing your maker knows your heart and thinks you are incredible. You are a child of God. You are chosen, not forsaken. He is for you, not against you. Do yourself the biggest favor you could ever do for yourself and let Him love you.

You’ve got this. ❤️
